Rodney Gilbert

Rodney Gilbert, Actor/Director/Arts Administrator (July 27, 1967 – November 8, 2017) was the founder and CEO of Yendor Productions, a Newark-based company that consulted, developed and produced arts education programming and events for under-served artists and communities. He was a graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. As an actor, producer and director, he worked in professional theater for over 30 years. He was an adjunct professor for the Theatre Department at Drew University, Madison, NJ. He oversaw the theater program for Newark Public Schools, Extended Day and served as the lead teacher and liaison to its Drew University Theatre partnership. Rodney served as an Arts Educator for the Kennedy Centers’ Wolftrap program and was the Director of the Writers program for Playwrights Theater (of NJ). Under Yendor Productions, he served as Senior Program Manager for the City of Newark Murals Program. Rodney was a member of the Actors Equity Association, a Leadership Newark Fellow and an Audelco Award Nominee.
