Rev. Michael J. S. Carter

The Rev. Michael J. S. Carter is originally from Baltimore, MD and lived in New York City for over 27 years, working as a professional actor before moving to Asheville, NC. He is an Ordained Inter-Faith Minister graduating from The New Seminary School in New York City (1997), and received his Bachelor’s Degree, Summa Cum Laude, from the College of New Rochelle, New York Theological Seminary Campus, with a double major in Letters and Divinity Studies. Michael Received his Masters in Divinity Degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York City in 2000.

Rev. Carter has served various Unitarian Universalist Churches in the New York City and surrounding areas and was trained as an anti-racism trainer by the denomination, being recognized by President Bill Clinton for his efforts. Michael has also worked as a hospital chaplain in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Mission Health System in Asheville, NC. Michael also served as the Diversity Officer for Mission Health System for three and a half years, while writing a weekly column for the Asheville Citizen Times for 6 months.

Rev. Carter is a frequent commentator on The History Channel’s television show Ancient Aliens where he discusses his book Alien Scriptures: Extraterrestrials in the Holy Bible. His book advances the hypothesis of the possibility of ancient astronauts originating the monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. He has made numerous radio and TV appearances on the topic of UFOs and religion, including Whitley Strieber’s radio show, Unknown Country, Academy Award-winning actress, Shirley MacLaine’s radio program, George Noory’s Coast to Coast AM radio show, and Noory’s Beyond Belief TV program which airs on Gaiam Television. Rev. Carter has also written numerous articles and essays on the topic for domestic and international publications. He currently serves as minister of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Swanannoa Valley in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
